Your guests

Meet your charming hosts, ready to welcome you to an authentic, warm and friendly setting for an unforgettable stay.

A few words from your hosts...

La Sauternaise: why, how...

"I live with my wife Pascale and our two children, Charles and Rachèle, in a house surrounded by vines on the wine estate of a Sauternes premier grand cru classé en 1855, for which I've been working for over ten years now". On one of our very first Sunday walks, when we arrived in the region, we fell in love with this former "Office de Dégustation" located in the very heart of the village.

A few years later, we were fortunate enough to be able to buy it, and we spent a lot of time thinking about what to do with this picturesque 18th-century residence, located just a few hundred meters from our home as the crow flies.

You can rest assured that we will listen to you and do everything in our power to make your stay with us an unforgettable one..."

"We felt it was our duty to honor this heritage, this authentic and charming place, once responsible for promoting the wines of Sauternes".

That's when we came up with the idea of not only offering rooms that reflect all our hotel and B&B ideals, but also sharing our passion for wine and gastronomy with our guests in a convivial atmosphere.

We then looked for a name that would reflect both the history of the area and our own family history, marked a few years ago by the birth of our granddaughter at home. At the time, the village mayor dubbed her the real "Sauternaise". So we naturally chose to pass on this name to our house.

La Sauternaise is a gentle, chic home where we hope you'll rediscover the cosy comfort and friendly welcome of a bed & breakfast, but also the independence, courtesy and standing expected in a top-of-the-range hotel.

Didier

"I'm the fourth generation in the wine business: great-grandson of a nurseryman and grandson of a Saint Emilion winegrower, son of a wine merchant. I'm an alumnus of Bordeaux Sciences Agro and the D.U.A.D (Diplome Universitaire d'Aptitude à la Dégustation de l'Institut des Sciences de la Vigne et du Vin de Bordeaux).

For over ten years, I've been working to share, promote, enhance and strengthen the Sauternes brand within one of the appellation's most prestigious Premier Grand Cru classé en 1855.

Commandeur d'Honneur at the Commanderie du Bontemps Médoc Graves Sauternes Barsac, I have sworn an oath of gratitude and loyalty to these appellations... and it will be my pleasure to give you the keys to all these prestigious wines by pointing out the best addresses in the vineyard."

Pascale

"After a career in wine distribution, merchandising and then marketing, I wanted to devote myself fully to my children Charles, aged 12, and Rachèle, aged 7.

When La Sauternaise came into our lives, I saw it as an opportunity to resume an activity in line with my taste for entertaining and my passion for gastronomy.

I thought long and hard about the layout, equipment and decoration of the house, and I hope that it will be the setting for some magical moments for you..."
